Medicare Information

Medicare Insurance Options
Everyone 65 and older is entitled to Medicare Insurance, but Medicare by itself will cover no more than 80% of your medical costs. You will need to get a Medicare Supplemental Plan, sometimes called a Medigap Plan, or choose a Medicare Advantage Plan (available through private health insurance companies). Be aware that AARP sells the Medicare plans that are UnitedHealthCare. Here are some reliable links to more information about your options:
This very helpful video explaining Medicare is from the Rockland County Office for the Aging:

For information from Medicare.gov - This website gives you clear, step by step information about all your options and what they mean. It comes directly from Medicare, so it is not trying to sell you any particular plan.

Be pro-active. If you want to know more about a company, give them a call. Often supplemental Medicare plans and Medicare Advantage health insurance plans have wellness assistance in many categories. You can access their information, either by calling your provider or by scrolling through their web site. These benefits may include help paying for gym attendance, information accessing assistive devices, locating home care, skilled nursing, and much more. Call the company providing your Supplemental Insurance or your Medicare Advance Plan to ask about benefits, or explore their website.
